Lean Startup Coffee: 10 Years of Wednesday Morning Conversations
Every Wednesday morning at 7:30 AM, a group of people who work in startups - founders, developers, designers, operators, investors - gather online for an hour.
No agenda. No speaker. No slides. Just conversation.
That’s Lean Startup Coffee - and it’s been running since July 2015.
What Happens
Lean Startup Coffee is a mash-up of two formats: leancoffee.org (agenda-free, participant-driven discussion) and the lean startup method. Participants propose topics at the start, vote on which ones to discuss, and the group works through them in priority order, using a timer to keep things moving.
Anyone can propose a topic. Topics might be: a fundraising challenge you’re stuck on, a hiring decision, a product question, a market you’re trying to understand, or something you read this week that sparked a thought.
The result is an hour of dense, diverse, honest conversation with people who’ve usually faced the same kinds of problems you’re facing.

From Grind for Truth to WorkAdventure
Lean Startup Coffee started as an in-person event at Grind for Truth coffee shop in Cape Town - Wednesday mornings, 8:30–9:30 AM. It moved online during the pandemic and stayed online, finding that the format actually works well virtually.
The meetup now runs on WorkAdventure - a virtual campus where people can move around and have spatial conversations, which keeps the informal, drop-in feel of a coffee shop meetup.
Who Should Come
If you work in a startup - or want to - this is your community. Founders at all stages, early employees, people thinking about starting something, people who’ve been through it before. The only requirement is genuine engagement with the startup world.
It’s free, it’s online, and it’s Wednesday morning.
